This Was Not The Plan

Hey there ✌️

Maybe we’ve crossed paths at a conference, a workshop, on a Zoom call, or even worked together. But in case we haven’t met - hi, I’m Anastasia!

I’m a Talent Acquisition Partner at a web3 startup, and I’ve been helping companies find talented people (and vice versa) for over six years now. For the last three, I’ve been neck-deep in web3. Still learning the ropes, googling weird crypto acronyms, but loving the chaos.

Did I always want to be a recruiter? Not even close. I thought I was destined to become an Air Traffic Controller at LAX (yep, go big or go home!). But life had other plans, and after my friend (a recruiter herself) nudged me to try hiring, I gave it a shot. That one "why not" moment turned into a whole career.

I started at a headhunting agency in 2019, helping engineering teams grow at companies like Snap, Wix, Fiverr, PandaDoc and others. It was intense, rewarding, and just the right kind of messy. Somewhere along the way, I got the chance to build and lead a team of four talent sourcers and recruiters, a crew of sharp, driven people who taught me as much as I hope I gave them. Massive respect to my manager who trusted me with that wild ride - I’ll always be grateful.

In 2022, I jumped into crypto, and I haven’t looked back. Web3 isn’t easy. If someone tells you otherwise, they’re either lying or haven’t done the work. The learning curve is steep, the pace is relentless, and the jargon could scare off a seasoned engineer. But once you're in, it's fascinating. You need to stay curious, stay sharp, and keep evolving if you want to keep up - and that’s exactly why I’m here for it.

So, why this blog?

Honestly, because I wish something like this existed when I was starting. I wanted a place where web3 didn't feel so gatekept, and where hiring didn’t sound like a corporate checklist. This blog is my way of opening that door a little wider - making web3 feel less like a secret club and more like something you can grow into.

I'll break down the basics of crypto and blockchain, share what I’ve learned about hiring in web3, and talk honestly about what it takes to grow: as a leader, a teammate and a human being.

I put this off for months (typical perfectionist move!). But then I recalled one of my favourite TED Talks videos"Don't wait. Don't wait until you make your first million to make a difference in somebody's life. If you have something to give, give it now. Not every day is going to offer us a chance to save somebody's life, but every day offers us an opportunity to affect one. So, get in the game".

And that’s why I’m here, getting in the game.

I don’t know where this blog will go, but I know I’ll show up honestly and share what I’ve got. If you’re into web3, hiring, leadership, or just figuring it all out one day at a time, you’re in the right place.

So, without further ado, this is “that’s what she said.”
Unfiltered, unpolished, unapologetically me.

Let’s see where it takes us.

Cheers,
Anastasia
